Aleksandra Jarling is a researcher and educator at the University of Borås, affiliated with the Faculty of Caring Science, Work Life and Social Welfare and the Department of Care Sciences. She holds a specialist nurse qualification in psychiatric care and has been at the university since 2010. Her roles include program manager for the Specialist Nursing Program (psychiatric care focus), course manager/examiner for the Police Program’s mental illness and addiction course, and co-supervisor for doctoral students Ida Gustafsson and Natalie Bergman. She defended her thesis Shared Vulnerability – Home Care from the Perspective of Older People, Relatives and Professional Carers in 2020.
Research interests include existential dimensions of care, prehospital mental health assessments, and person-centered care implementation. She contributes to two research groups: Existential issues in care and learning contexts (focusing on health, illness, and learning in care) and Prehospital (addressing mental health in emergency care). Recent publications explore intimate partner violence during breastfeeding, ambulance care for breathlessness, and methodological creativity in existential research.
Her work emphasizes holistic care approaches, particularly in vulnerable populations, and bridges clinical practice with educational and policy contexts.
