Aleksander Rebane is an Assistant Professor of Chemistry and Physics at New York University Abu Dhabi. He holds a BS in interdisciplinary sciences from ETH Zürich, an MS in physics from Osaka University, and a PhD in physics from Yale University. His research focuses on experimental biophysics, particularly the self-organization and function of biomolecules like proteins and lipids within cells, with emphasis on synaptic synapses and Golgi Apparatus architecture. He has received prestigious awards including the NIH Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Award (2016) and a Swiss National Science Foundation Ambizione grant (2021). His work combines optical tweezers, phase separation studies, and membrane mechanics to explore molecular mechanisms in cellular processes.
