Alan Bitter is an Assistant Professor and Director of Licensing at Wisconsin Lutheran College's Department of Education. He holds a B.S. in Education from Dr. Martin Luther College and an M.A. in Elementary Education from the University of Nebraska at Kearney. His research focuses on teacher growth, instructional assessment, differentiated pedagogy, and supervision for learning.
He oversees teacher certification programs, advising pre-service teachers through student teaching. Previously, he served as a Lutheran school principal and teacher, contributing to Wisconsin's Professional Standards Council (2008–2011) and developing teacher evaluation frameworks. He actively participates in accreditation processes for religious and Lutheran schools.
Teaching responsibilities include courses on educational management, diversity in education, and portfolio development. He is a member of the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development and presents at leadership institutes.
