Akanshu Sharma is the Jack and Kay Hockema Associate Professor in Civil Engineering at the Lyles School of Civil and Construction Engineering, Purdue University. Previously, he worked as a Junior Professor at the University of Stuttgart (2017-2021) and held leadership roles at the Materials Testing Institute in Germany.

- Committees: Chair of ACI 216 (Fire) and ACI 349-C (Nuclear Anchorages), Technical Secretary for fib TG 2.9 (Fastenings)
Research Interests: Focus on performance assessment and strengthening of reinforced concrete structures against natural and man-made hazards, with expertise in anchorages and bond in concrete under extreme loads. Key areas include seismic resilience, fire safety, computational modeling, and advanced materials for structural applications.
Professional Service: Associate Editor for ASCE Journal of Bridge Engineering, Materials and Structures (Rilem), and Indian Concrete Journal. Peer reviewer and guest editor for multiple international journals.
