Dr. Mohammadali Rezazadeh is a Lecturer in Civil Engineering at Northumbria University's Department of Mechanical and Construction Engineering. He holds a PhD in Structural Engineering from the University of Minho (Portugal, 2015), an MSc in Earthquake Engineering, and a BSc in Civil Engineering, both from Iran. Prior to Northumbria, he was a Post-doctoral Research Associate at Politecnico di Milano (Italy) and held an FCT Post-doctoral Fellowship at the University of Minho.
His research focuses on innovative strengthening techniques for concrete structures, including FRP composites, fire safety, and advanced numerical modeling. He currently leads a research grant (FCT Portugal 2020) as Principal Investigator. He is active in international organizations like fib (International Federation for Structural Concrete) and RILEM Technical Committees.
Dr. Rezazadeh supervises postdoctoral researchers and PhD students, including Ameer S M Radwan (2025 start) and Sareh Akbarpoor (2021 start). His work integrates computational methods like machine learning with structural mechanics, addressing challenges in material behavior under extreme conditions.
