Agnes Weiyun He is a Professor at the Department of Asian and Asian American Studies and Founder/Director of the Center for Multilingual and Intercultural Communication (MIC) at SUNY-Stony Brook University. She served as Chair/Interim Chair from 2014-2020 and 2023-2024, and currently holds leadership roles such as Secretary of the American Association for Applied Linguistics (2022-2026).

Her research explores how language use is shaped by contextual and cultural contingencies, focusing on heritage language socialization, intercultural communication, and identity construction in multilingual settings. Her work bridges discourse linguistics and globalization studies, with funding from the Spencer Foundation, National Science Foundation, and other major institutions.
Her publications span heritage language pedagogy, classroom discourse, and Chinese diaspora communication. Notable awards include the Guggenheim Fellowship (2011). She teaches courses in intercultural communication, Mandarin Chinese structure, and heritage language research methods.
