Afshin Raouf, PhD, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Immunology at the Max Rady College of Medicine, University of Manitoba. He is also a Senior Scientist at CancerCare Manitoba, Research Institute in Hematology and Oncology (RIOH), and the Manitoba Institute of Cell Biology (MICB). Dr. Raouf holds the Manitoba Foundation for Breast Cancer (MFBF) Chair in Chronic Wound Healing & Stem Cell Therapy.
- Education: PhD from the University of Toronto (2002), B.Sc. from the University of Toronto (1996), Postdoctoral Fellowship at BC Cancer Agency (2009)
His research focuses on developing therapies for malignant breast cancer tumors, advancing stem cell therapies for chronic non-healing wounds, and investigating the role of tissue-resident immune cells in therapy response. He leads the TFRI-Prairie Cancer Research Consortium and the Manitoba Breast Cancer Research Group.
Affiliations include co-chair of the Terry Fox Research Institute-Prairie Cancer Research Consortium (TFRI-PCRC) Breast Cancer Research Group and chair of the MFBF Chair in Chronic Wound Healing & Stem Cell Therapy. He actively mentors graduate students in Master’s and PhD programs.
Labs/Teams: Leads research groups focused on breast cancer immunobiology and stem cell therapy for wound healing.
