Adhiraaj Anand

Adhiraaj Anand is a Doctoral Researcher at the GIGA Institute for Asian Studies (part of the German Institute for Global and Area Studies), focusing on Youth Politics, Transnational Activism, and Civil Society in East and Southeast Asia (Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia).

His research explores political dynamics in Asia, particularly youth-led movements and media portrayal of geopolitical tensions. Recent publications include analyses of Taiwan’s leadership challenges, India’s electoral trends, and China’s fishing disputes with Latin American nations. He actively participates in international conferences as a speaker and organizer, emphasizing collaborative research with the Global South.

As part of the Accountability and Participation research program, he investigates how social movements influence governance. His work bridges academic rigor with policy-relevant insights, leveraging affiliations with institutions in Singapore, Chile, and Germany.
