Katharina van Treeck (née Trapp)

Katharina van Treeck is an Associate Research Fellow at the Leibniz Institute for Global and Area Studies (GIGA), specializing in Development Economics and Globalization. She is affiliated with the GIGA Institute of African Studies (since 2017) and previously with the GIGA Institute of Asian Studies (2012–2017). Her research focuses on social and ecological sustainability of cocoa cultivation in Indonesia, income distribution, and international capital flows.

She has taught Controversies in Development Economics (2015) and Development Economics I (2013) at Georg-August-University Göttingen. She collaborates with multidisciplinary teams in the GIGA Doctoral Program and regional institutes.
