Aderonke Agboji

Dr. Aderonke Agboji is an Assistant Professor in the Nursing Department at the Faculty of Human and Health Sciences, University of Northern British Columbia, specializing in gerontology and mental health research. Based at the South-Central Campus in Quesnel, she contributes significantly to understanding dementia care, apathy in older adults, and gerontechnology applications in long-term care settings.

Her research interests focus on aging, gerontechnology, dementia care, long-term care, family care-giving, and mental health, with particular emphasis on quantitative and mixed methods study designs. Dr. Agboji has established herself as a specialist in understanding apathy among older adults with and without dementia, exploring innovative interventions like eReaders and eBook clubs to mitigate this condition in both long-term care and community settings.

Her publication portfolio demonstrates a strong focus on apathy in older populations, with numerous 2024-2025 publications examining prevalence, risk factors, barriers to care, and technological interventions. Her work spans multiple methodologies including integrative reviews, secondary data analysis, pilot studies, and multimethod research approaches, with particular attention to Canadian long-term care residents and rural Northern BC communities.

Dr. Agboji is actively engaged in research that bridges technology and healthcare for older adults, with a focus on practical interventions that can be implemented in real-world settings. She is currently accepting graduate students and available as a media expert on her subject matter.
