Aaron Vandermeer is a Professor of Music at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke, specializing in Jazz Studies and Music Industry. He coordinates the Jazz Studies program, teaches Jazz Theory and Composition, Jazz Pedagogy, and leads ensembles including Jazz Combo I and the University Jazz Ensemble. He founded the UNCP Honor Jazz Festival and served as Music Department Chair (2018-2022) and Faculty Senate Chairperson (2017-2018).

Professionally, he has performed with ensembles like the David Baker Big Band, Carolina Jazz Trio, and UNCP Faculty Brass Quintet. A former student of NEA Jazz Master David Baker, he has taught jazz pedagogy and improvisation for over a decade.
