معرفی
Aaron Marshall is a Professor and Department Head of Immunology at the Max Rady College of Medicine, University of Manitoba. He holds cross-appointments in the Department of Biochemistry and Medical Genetics and the Department of Internal Medicine. His research focuses on immune cell signaling pathways, particularly in B lymphocytes, with applications to cancer and autoimmune diseases.
Education:
- BS (Hons) in Microbiology and Immunology, University of Saskatchewan (1992)
- PhD in Immunology, University of Toronto (1997)
- Postdoctoral Fellowship, University of Washington (2000)
Research Interests:
Dr. Marshall’s work decodes lipid-mediated signaling pathways in immune cells, particularly the phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K) pathway. His lab investigates how these signals regulate B cell activation, antibody production, and their dysregulation in leukemia/lymphoma and autoimmune diseases. He collaborates in multi-disciplinary teams targeting rheumatoid arthritis in Indigenous populations and cancer immunology.
Awards:
- Canada Research Chair
- CIHR New Investigator Award
- AAImmunologists Junior Faculty Travel Award
Additional Roles:
Director of the Flow Cytometry Core, adjunct senior scientist at CancerCare Manitoba, and vice-president of the Canadian Society for Immunology. He leads the Manitoba Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia Cluster and the Human Immunology Team focusing on rheumatoid arthritis prevention.
