A. K. M. Abdullah Al-Amin serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Agricultural Economics at Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU), Mymensingh. He is also an Elizabeth Creak Fellow conducting PhD research at Harper Adams University in the United Kingdom and was previously a Visiting Scholar at Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana. His academic journey includes prestigious recognitions such as the Prime Minister Gold Medal 2014 and University Prize from BAU for exceptional academic performance.
Dr. Al-Amin's research interests focus on Agri-Tech Economics, particularly examining the economic feasibility of autonomous crop machines as alternatives to conventional machinery. His work spans Precision Agriculture, Farm Management, Agroecological Farming, Cropping Systems, Farming Systems, Climate Change Adaptation, and Environmental Conservation. His research demonstrates how technological innovation can address labor scarcity, operational efficiency, and environmental sustainability challenges in agriculture.
His publication record reveals a strong trend toward analyzing the economic implications of agricultural automation, with particular emphasis on how field size, shape, and biodiversity considerations affect the viability of autonomous machinery. His recent work explores regenerative agriculture models, strip cropping systems with autonomous machines, and the intersection of climate change adaptation with farming economics. These studies consistently connect technological innovation with economic viability for smallholder farmers in Bangladesh and similar contexts.

Dr. Al-Amin leads research initiatives through Al-Amin's HEED: Hub for Economic and Environmental Decisions, focusing on the economic dimensions of agricultural technology adoption. His work with the Global Institute for Agri-Tech Economics (GIATE) and Harper Adams Business School demonstrates strong international collaboration, particularly with researchers from Purdue University and other global institutions. His research program addresses critical gaps in understanding how technological innovation can be economically viable for smallholder farming systems while promoting environmental sustainability.
His laboratory and research team work at the intersection of agricultural economics and technology assessment, utilizing sophisticated modeling approaches like the Hands Free Hectare-Linear Programming (HFH-LP) model to evaluate the economic performance of autonomous agricultural systems. This work connects engineering feasibility with economic viability, providing crucial insights for policymakers and agricultural technology developers.
