Clinical Professor
Claudia Angelos is a Clinical Professor of Law and Externship Director at New York University School of Law. She directs the Civil Rights Clinic, Racial Justice Clinic, and New York Civil Liberties Clinic. Over 20 years at NYU Law, she and her students have litigated over 100 civil rights cases in federal courts. She is an honors graduate of Radcliffe College (BA, 1971) and Harvard Law School (JD, 1974), and a Phi Beta Kappa member. She serves as general counsel for the New York Civil Liberties Union (NYCLU), board member of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), and chairs Prisoners’ Legal Services of New York and the Society of American Law Teachers. Her research focuses on prisoners’ rights, civil rights litigation, First Amendment issues, and legal education reform. She frequently speaks on topics including legal ethics, trial practice, and clinical pedagogy. Her notable award includes the 2015 national Outstanding Advocate for Clinical Legal Education honor.
