Dr. Kristin Leitterman is Associate Professor of Oboe & Bassoon and Woodwind Area Coordinator at Arkansas State University's College of Liberal Arts and Communication, where she teaches applied oboe, chamber music, and Double Reed Techniques. She also serves as Director of the Lucarelli Oboe Master Class, a week-long immersive program for advanced oboists. Her research focuses on historical figures in music, particularly Mary Chandler and Gustave Vogt, with an emphasis on musical autograph albums and oboe pedagogy. She has presented her scholarly work at prestigious venues including The Juilliard School and international conferences of the International Double Reed Society and the Brazilian Double Reed Society. As a performer, Dr. Leitterman defies convention by combining oboe and voice in solo performances, commissioning new works from composers such as Michael-Thomas Foumai and Whitney George. Her performances have taken her to Carnegie Hall, Jordan Hall, and international stages in Spain, Brazil, and Canada. She is an active member of several professional organizations, including the International Double Reed Society, College Music Society, Music Teachers National Association, and the National Association of College Wind and Percussion Instructors. Dr. Leitterman maintains a comprehensive online resource hub for oboists and educators, offering free fingering charts, reed-making guides, and career advice. She also regularly presents master classes at institutions such as Manhattan School of Music and New York University.
