Sally Seitz

Sally Seitz is a Teaching Assistant Professor at the University of Pittsburgh within the Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences, specializing in the Film and Media Studies Program. She is a screenwriter, playwright, and director originally from Nashville, Tennessee, known for her award-winning stage play Six Inches Above the Knee and her work in dark comedy and young adult TV series.

• Education: MFA in Dramatic Writing from Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Drama; BA in Theatre and American Literature from Middlebury College.

Her research interests focus on screenwriting, film theory, and media production, with an emphasis on character development and revision. She actively mentors students to hone their creative voices.

Seitz is a member of the Writers Guild of America East, the Dramatist Guild of America, and the Austin Film Festival team. She currently develops a dark comedy TV series with 20th Television.
