Brenda Lilly

Brenda Lilly is an Assistant Professor of Practice in the School of Stage and Screen at Western Carolina University's David Orr Belcher College of Fine and Performing Arts. She is an award-winning screenwriter, playwright, director, and producer with extensive industry experience.

Professor Lilly holds a BFA from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Her professional background includes creating and executive producing the television series STATE OF GRACE, writing and producing hundreds of hours of network television, and having her plays produced nationally.

Her teaching focuses on television writing curriculum development, mentorship of underrepresented students, and creating industry-relevant learning experiences. She designed and leads the Web Series production initiative, providing students with hands-on experience in episodic television production. She also founded the Controlled Chaos Film Festival, now in its tenth year.

Professor Lilly maintains active membership in multiple professional guilds including the Writers Guild of America, Writers Guild of Canada, Dramatists Guild, Screen Actors Guild, and Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
