Gustavo Rosa

Gustavo Rosa is an Assistant Professor at Penn State University’s Film Production and Media Studies Department. His career bridges filmmaking and education, with works showcased at major international festivals such as Berlin, Sundance, and SXSW.

• Education: MFA in Filmmaking from Columbia University (2016)

Rosa specializes in Film Production, Media Studies, and Screenwriting, with a focus on Dark Comedy and Transnational Cinema. His films often explore societal themes like rapid urbanization, exemplified by his Peruvian project The Restoration, which secured the DAFO award, Peru’s most prestigious film grant.

As an educator, Rosa has mentored students whose films have achieved acclaim, including two Director’s Guild of America awards. He is currently executive producing several short and feature films, such as the Turkish-German-Bulgarian co-production Those Who Whistle in the Dark, which participated in the Biennale College Cinema in Venice.
