Jason McNeel is a professional bassist and educator affiliated with the University of North Carolina-Charlotte and Davidson College, where he teaches bass as a faculty member. He joined the Charlotte Symphony in 2017 and has performed with prestigious orchestras, including the Pittsburgh Symphony, Cincinnati Symphony, and Charlottesville Opera Orchestra. His performance highlights include stages at The Royal Albert Hall, Musikverein, and Elbphilharmonie.
Mr. McNeel holds a Master’s Degree from Carnegie Mellon University and a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, where he studied under renowned bass educators like Micah Howard and Jeff Turner. His research and artistic interests span Music, Bass Performance, Orchestral Performance, and Jazz, integrating classical and contemporary styles.
He actively supports Charlotte’s local music scene through jazz and pop collaborations. Outside music, he enjoys reading, hiking, and yoga. His career bridges orchestral performance, academic instruction, and community engagement.
