James Jensen

James Jensen serves as an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Saxophone at the University of Northern Iowa (UNI) School of Music. As a multi-instrumentalist, he performs with ensembles such as the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Symphony, Theatre Cedar Rapids, Des Moines Symphony Orchestra, and the UNI Faculty Saxophone Quartet. Originally from Arkansas, he earned a Bachelor of Music Education (B.M.E.) at the University of Central Arkansas, studying under Dr. Jackie Lamar, followed by a Master of Music Performance at Wichita State University with Dr. Geoffrey Deibel.

His performance experience spans classical and jazz genres, collaborating with diverse ensembles nationwide.

Teaching and Outreach includes private lessons for all ages and skill levels, as well as masterclasses at institutions like the University of North Texas and conferences such as the International Saxophone Symposium. He co-founded the Amaranth Quartet, which achieved second place in the Wolff-Bing Chamber Music Competition and performed nationally.
