Anthony Williams

Anthony Williams is an Associate Professor of Trombone at the University of Northern Iowa (UNI), affiliated with the School of Music. He teaches applied trombone, chamber music, trombone pedagogy, trombone literature, and low brass techniques, while also serving as part of UNI’s jazz faculty through applied jazz trombone instruction and directing the UNI Jazz Trombone Ensemble.

Dr. Williams is an active performer in classical, jazz, and new music settings. His debut solo album Synthesis features commissioned works blending classical, Latin, and jazz elements. He has also recorded with notable ensembles like the Mike Waldrop Big Band and composer Jorge Sosa, and performs with regional orchestras and jazz groups such as the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Symphony and Orquesta Alto Maiz.

Professional affiliations include membership in the International Trombone Association and the Jazz Education Network. His career spans collaborations with renowned artists (Natalie Cole, Aretha Franklin) and ensembles like the Memphis Symphony and Dirty Dozen Brass Band.
