Michael Stow

Michael Stow serves as an Assistant Adjunct Professor of Low Brass in the School of Music at the University of Northern Iowa. He maintains active performance roles as Principal Trombone of the Sioux City Symphony Orchestra and Bass Trombone of the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Symphony Orchestra, while regularly collaborating with jazz and commercial ensembles across Iowa.

His academic background includes a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from the University of Northern Iowa and a Master's Degree in Trombone Performance from the University of Minnesota. His principal instructors were Dr. Anthony Williams, Professor Thomas Ashworth, and Dr. John Tranter.

Stow's professional focus integrates music education with performance practice, emphasizing trombone pedagogy, jazz improvisation, and orchestral repertoire. His work bridges classical and commercial music traditions through teaching and active participation in regional ensembles, contributing to Iowa's musical ecosystem.
