Eric High is a Professor of Music at St. Norbert College since 2005, previously serving as a middle school band director in Gilbert, Arizona. He holds a B.A. from University of Wisconsin-Superior, M.M. and D.M.A. from Arizona State University.
His research focuses on the history and development of the contrabass trombone, leading to collaborations with composers like Tom Dossett and Jeff Cortazzo. Eric performs with orchestras including the Green Bay Symphony and leads the Instrumental Jazz Ensemble. He teaches courses such as Jazz Ensemble and Music Appreciation, while coordinating the college’s core curriculum assessment.
Publications include arrangements for Cherry Classics Music and literature reviews for the International Trombone Association Journal. He actively premieres new works, including 'Full Moon Ascending' (2018) and 'Seven Duets' (scheduled 2022).
Eric directs the Brass Ensembles and Low Brass Lessons programs, emphasizing music education and performance excellence.
