Christopher Bassett serves as Professor of Trombone at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music (SFCM) and holds the position of Bass Trombonist with the San Francisco Symphony since 2024. Previously, he was with the St. Louis Symphony, Jacksonville Symphony, and Santa Fe Opera. He earned a B.M. from the New England Conservatory (2016) and a M.M. from Columbus State University (2024), studying under James Markey and Dr. Bradley Palmer. A dedicated educator, Bassett co-founded the Southwest Trombone Conference and has served as a guest professor at Indiana University and the University of Florida.
His career highlights include collaborations with renowned orchestras like the Boston Symphony and Cleveland Orchestra, as well as solo performances such as the Sachse Konzert with the Coastal Symphony of Georgia (2024). Bassett’s discography includes the Tres Amigos album with the Santa Fe Trombones and an upcoming solo album In Dreams (2025). He is also a signature artist for Ultimate Brass, Edwards Instrument Co., and Peck Custom Designs.
