Kensey Chellis

Kensey Chellis is a faculty member at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music (SFCM) in the Pre-College department, specializing in trombone performance and instruction. They hold a BM from the University of Dayton, MM from DePaul University, and PSD from SFCM. As a performer, they have held the Second Trombone position with the Boise Philharmonic (2011-2016) and substitute with major orchestras including the San Francisco Symphony and Hawaii Symphony Orchestra.

Chellis' teaching focuses on tailoring instruction to student goals, with advisees achieving top chairs in California All-State Ensembles, Blue Devils Drum and Bugle Corps, and collegiate programs. Their pedagogical work includes a pandemic-era trombone method book project.

Outside music, Chellis pursues interests in coffee, nature, and rescue dogs, alongside a passion for coastal hiking with family.
