Émilie Allard, PhD, is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Nursing Sciences of the University of Montreal. She holds a PhD in Nursing Sciences (2019), a Master's degree in Nursing Sciences (2012), and an Honors Bachelor's degree in Nursing Sciences (2010), all from the University of Montreal. Her academic appointments include membership in the RRISIQ (Quebec Research Network in Nursing Interventions) and CIFI-AP (Center for Innovation in Nursing Education and Professional Learning).
Dr. Allard's educational background demonstrates a strong foundation in nursing sciences, with advanced degrees focused on palliative and end-of-life care. Her academic journey at the University of Montreal has positioned her as a leading researcher in interdisciplinary approaches to end-of-life care.
Dr. Allard's primary research interests focus on palliative and end-of-life care, with particular emphasis on interdisciplinary team training, population education regarding end-of-life processes, support for caregivers, and improving access to quality end-of-life care across various living environments. Her methodological expertise centers on qualitative research and participatory approaches that ensure alignment between population needs and research outcomes. She maintains strong collaborations with community organizations in palliative care and end-of-life services to foster social innovations in this field.
Her research program is organized around three main axes: 1) Interdisciplinary training for healthcare teams, 2) Population awareness and education about death, dying, and end-of-life care, and 3) Evaluation of access to palliative and end-of-life services. This comprehensive approach addresses critical gaps in the healthcare system while promoting social responsibility regarding end-of-life experiences.

As an academic supervisor, Dr. Allard has guided numerous doctoral and master's students through their research on topics related to palliative care, end-of-life experiences, and caregiver support. Her research program has attracted significant funding from various sources including the Quebec Research Funds (FRQS, FRQSC), the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), and the Ministry of Health and Social Services. She serves in various administrative roles including responsibility for axis 4 of the Quebec Network for Palliative and End-of-Life Care Research (RQSPAL) and representation on the Scientific Committee of the Blanchard Family Chair for Teaching and Research in Palliative Care.
Dr. Allard is actively involved in community engagement through her membership on the board of directors of the Montreal Palliative Home Care Society (SSPAD) and her work with various committees focused on teaching, research, and human resources. She has also contributed to creating student-parent support spaces at the University of Montreal, demonstrating her commitment to community well-being both within and beyond academia.
