Melissa Bloomer

Dr. Melissa Bloomer is an Associate Professor and Honorary Professor in the School of Nursing & Midwifery at Deakin University, part of the Faculty of Health. She holds leadership roles in end-of-life care, including Deputy Chair of the End of Life Care Policy Chapter at the Australian College of Nursing and Chair of the End-of-Life Advisory Panel at the Australian College of Critical Care Nurses. Her research focuses on end-of-life care in critical care settings, cultural competency, and communication challenges for linguistically diverse populations. She has been awarded the EAPC Postdoctoral Researcher of the Year (2020) and the Endeavour Executive Leadership Award (2019).

She leads projects on volunteer roles in palliative care, ICU communication barriers, and dementia care transitions.
