Sylvie Dubois is Associate Professor and Dean of the Faculty of Nursing at the University of Montreal, having assumed the deanship in August 2020. Previously, she served as National Director of Nursing Services at the Quebec Ministry of Health and Social Services from January 2016 to July 2020. Her extensive career spans clinical practice, healthcare administration, policy development, and academic leadership within the nursing profession.
Her educational background includes a PhD in Nursing from McGill University (2008), an MBA from HEC Montreal (2001), a Master's in Education from University of Montreal (1991), a Bachelor's in Nursing from University of Montreal (1989), and a Nursing Diploma from Collège Édouard Montpetit (1976).
Dr. Dubois' research interests focus on oncology nursing, particularly lymphedema management, nursing education, healthcare administration, patient education, and information technology in healthcare. Her work emphasizes strategic nursing leadership, interprofessional collaboration, and innovative approaches to patient care. She has developed several web-based educational tools for patients, including LYMPHEDUC-TAVIE for women at risk of lymphedema.
Her publication record demonstrates consistent focus on nursing leadership, interprofessional collaboration in oncology, competency frameworks, and technology-enhanced patient care. Recent work shows increasing emphasis on web-based interventions, medication adherence support systems, and competency frameworks across the healthcare continuum.

Dr. Dubois has supervised numerous graduate students including PhD candidates Ferrada-Videla and Bilodeau, and Master's students like Dorval and Bouchard. Her research has been supported by major funding agencies including Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC), Quebec Research Funds (FRQS, FRQSC), and the Quebec Ministry of Health. She has led significant projects including the development of a national nursing competency framework for Quebec healthcare organizations.
She is affiliated with the CHUM Research Center since 2009, the Nursing Innovation and Learning Center (CIFI-AP) since 2008, and the Quebec Nursing Intervention Research Network (RRISIQ). As Dean, she leads initiatives to advance nursing education and practice while maintaining active research involvement.
