معرفی
Çağdaş Devrim Son is a Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Middle East Technical University (METU), specializing in protein-protein interactions and G-protein coupled receptors (GPCRs). His research focuses on molecular mechanisms of receptor dimerization, signaling pathways, and the effects of post-translational modifications using advanced microscopy techniques like FRET and confocal imaging.
- Education:
- Ph.D., Biochemistry & Cellular and Molecular Biology, University of Tennessee, USA (1999–2004)
- M.Sc., Biological Sciences, METU, Turkey (1997–1999)
- B.Sc., Biological Sciences with a Minor in Chemistry, METU, Turkey (1993–1997)
His research interests include GPCR dimerization, membrane proteins, and the application of fluorescence-based techniques to study protein interactions in live cells. Recent work explores the role of GPCRs in neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's and spinal muscular atrophy, as well as the development of small molecules targeting arrestin-receptor interactions.
Publications highlight studies on yeast GPCRs (e.g., Ste2p), disease-associated mutations in GPR56, and the use of FRET to investigate oligomeric states. His lab employs advanced microscopy and molecular biology tools to address questions in cellular signaling and drug discovery.
