Åsa Melander is a Visiting Lecturer at Roehampton University and researcher at the Centre for Learning, Teaching and Human Development. Her PhD research focuses on education for high-achieving students in England and Sweden, examining equitable approaches to challenging academically gifted students across socioeconomic backgrounds.
Research interests center on comparative education systems (England, Scandinavia, Germany), school organization models, admission policies, segregation patterns, and equity frameworks. Her work critically examines how resource allocation affects educational outcomes for disadvantaged high-potential students.
Publications analyze teacher expectations in welfare systems, parental engagement barriers, standardized testing efficacy, and support systems for gifted students. Research methodology emphasizes longitudinal qualitative analysis through interviews spanning 25 years.
