Dr. Saverio Brogna is a Reader in RNA Biology at the University of Birmingham's School of Biosciences. His research focuses on RNA processing mechanisms, nonsense-mediated mRNA decay (NMD), and ribosomal functions within the nucleus. He leads a research group investigating the interconnections between pre-mRNA processing, translation, and mRNA stability. Brogna has held prestigious fellowships from the Wellcome Trust and Royal Society, enabling independent research since 2000. Education: Laurea (MA) in Biological Sciences (University of Pavia), PhD in Genetics (Cambridge University). Career path includes postdoctoral work at Brandeis University (USA) under Michael Rosbash.
