Traude Beilharz

Traude Beilharz is a Professor at Monash University's Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology. She leads research into RNA metabolism in health and disease, focusing on eukaryotic systems using next-generation technologies and model organisms. Her work contributes to understanding human genetic code fundamentals and accelerating gene-function discovery.

Research interests include RNA biology, genomics, and cancer metastasis. She explores mechanisms of mRNA processing, translational control, and their roles in disease. Notable projects include studying antifungal drug tolerance and mRNA vaccine development through collaborations in the ARC Centre of Excellence for Cellular Systems.

Recent articles highlight her work on alternative polyadenylation in cancer, fungal pathogenesis, and mRNA dynamics. She has been honored with the Mercator Fellow award (2023). Her projects include leadership in mRNA clinical trials and pre-clinical innovation incubators.
