معرفی
Ben Montpetit is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Viticulture & Enology at the University of California at Davis, College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. His research focuses on the molecular mechanisms of mRNA export through nuclear pore complexes (NPCs) and its implications in cellular stress responses and human diseases.
- Ph.D., University of British Columbia
Research Interests
Montpetit’s work investigates how NPCs regulate mRNA export at cellular, molecular, and atomic levels. His lab employs cell biology, biochemistry, structural biology, and single-molecule imaging in Saccharomyces cerevisiae to elucidate transport mechanisms. Future directions include expanding studies to mammalian systems to link mRNA export defects to diseases like cancer and neurodegenerative disorders.
Publication Trends
Montpetit's articles span RNA biology, nuclear transport, and protein-RNA interactions, with a focus on DEAD-box ATPases, nucleoporins, and stress-regulated export pathways. His work bridges basic cell biology and clinical relevance, particularly in disease mechanisms.
Lab Members
The Montpetit Lab collaborates with a multidisciplinary team of undergraduates, graduate students, postdocs, and staff, leveraging yeast and mammalian models to advance mechanistic understanding of RNA transport and processing.
