معرفی
Hualin Zhong is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Hunter College, City University of New York (CUNY). His research focuses on the regulation of gene expression and nuclear transport, particularly the role of nuclear pore complexes (NPCs) and nucleoporins in cellular processes.
Education:
- PhD, 1998, Rutgers, New Jersey
- Postdoc, 1998–2005, The Rockefeller University
- BA, 1988, Nanjing University, China
- MS, 1991, Shanghai Institute of Biochemistry, China
Research Interests:
Zhong's lab investigates how nuclear pore complexes (NPCs) regulate gene expression and nuclear transport. His work explores the transcriptional regulation of nucleoporin (Nup) genes in yeast and the functional roles of Tpr in nuclear organization and RNA processing. His studies combine bioinformatics, molecular biology, and biochemical approaches to uncover mechanisms of nuclear transport and gene regulation.
Scientific Contributions:
- Discovery of novel interactions between nucleoporins and regulatory proteins
- Elucidation of carrier-independent nuclear import mechanisms
- Functional characterization of Tpr in nuclear processes
