Kline School of Law of Duquesne University, teaching Criminal Law, Election Law, Land Use Law, and Law, Public Policy and the Executive Branch. He founded the award-winning Urban Development Law Clinic in 1995, providing experiential learning in urban development law. His educational background includes a B.A. in English Writing from the University of Pittsburgh (1971) and a J.D. from Duquesne Kline School of Law (1979). A recognized expert in land use law and urban development, Mistick's research examines intersections of law, public policy, and city planning. His work emphasizes practical applications in sentencing transparency and Pennsylvania land use regulations, informed by decades of hands-on urban development experience including Pittsburgh's Renaissance II projects and the nationally recognized Weed & Seed Program. His publications analyze Pennsylvania-specific legal frameworks in sentencing data and land use planning, contributing to criminal justice reform and municipal law scholarship. Through the Urban Development Law Clinic, Mistick mentors law students in real-world projects while maintaining a public policy presence as a Pittsburgh Tribune-Review columnist since 2002 and former co-host of the Roddey Mistick political talk show. He played pivotal roles in Pittsburgh's urban landscape as executive secretary to Mayor Sophie Masloff (1989-1992), overseeing Crawford Square and Washington's Landing developments, and as chairman of the Zoning Board under Mayor Caliguiri where he conducted 5,000+ hearings and authored key ordinances like the Downtown building height regulation.
