Dr. Andrew Herr is a Professor of Economics and Chair of the Economics Department at Saint Vincent College since 2022. He holds the Br. Norman W. Hipps, O.S.B., Endowed Chair in Economics and Business. His research focuses on Experimental Economics, Behavioral Economics, and Catholic Higher Education. He has overseen nearly 50 senior thesis projects and published widely in peer-reviewed journals such as Journal of Development Economics and Games and Economic Behavior . Dr. Herr has conducted extensive studies for local organizations including the Allegheny Trail Alliance, analyzing trail usage patterns and economic impacts. He also contributed to internal studies like the economic impact of the Pittsburgh Steelers Training Camp and the Boyer School expansion. His work bridges academic rigor with practical regional development challenges. His teaching spans Macroeconomics, Game Theory, and Experimental Economics. Beyond academia, he served as Head Men’s Cross Country and Track Coach for 19 years, earning seven PAC Coach of the Year awards. He has also held leadership roles in Faculty Council, Compensation Committee, and Academic Status Committee. Dr. Herr’s awards include the prestigious Boniface Wimmer Faculty Award (2007), recognizing his distinguished service and contributions to Saint Vincent College. His research on Catholic Higher Education explores topics like contingent faculty dynamics and institutional identity, often co-authored with Dr. Jason King.
