Prof. Sibel Tatar Erkül is a Turkish academic at Akdeniz University 's Faculty of Engineering, Department of Geological Engineering . She has served as Professor since 2022 and previously held Associate Professor and Assistant Professor roles at the same institution. She also held a visiting Assistant Professor position at Vienne University in 2011. Education: PhD (2003) in Geological Engineering, Cumhuriyet University MSc (1997) in Geological Engineering, Cumhuriyet University BSc (1995) in Geological Engineering, Cumhuriyet University Her research focuses on petrology , geochemistry , isotope geology , and geodynamic evolution of magmatic systems in Turkey, particularly Western Anatolia. She has published extensively on granitoids , volcanic complexes , and syn-extensional magmatism , with over 100 publications in SCI/Scopus journals. Recent articles analyze garnet xenoliths (2024), Triassic mafic igneous systems (2022), gem garnet characteristics (2021), and slab tearing-related volcanism (2019). Her work often integrates U-Pb geochronology , trace element analysis , and structural geology to unravel magmatic processes. She has supervised multiple MSc/PhD theses and participated in 12 funded projects as principal investigator or co-investigator. Her managerial experience includes Head of Department and Deputy Head of Department roles at Akdeniz University.
