Anna Gülcher

Anna Gülcher is a computational Earth and planetary scientist specializing in planetary evolution and habitability, particularly focusing on Venus. She currently serves as Deputy Director of the Center for Space and Habitability (CSH) at the University of Bern and holds roles in NASA’s VEXAG Steering Committee and ESA’s EnVision mission. Her research integrates geophysical modeling, space mission contributions, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Her research interests span Venusian tectonics, mantle dynamics, and mission science, with recent work on corona structures and lithospheric processes. She leads the CSH fellowship project exploring Venus as a planetary laboratory for Earth-like exoplanets.

Leadership: Chair of Planetary Equity group at ETH Zurich, organizer of international workshops, and contributor to science policy advocacy for planetary science funding.

Future roles: Tenure-Track Professor in Earth and Planetary Geodynamics at the University of Freiburg (2026), launching a new research group on geodynamic modeling.
