Prof. Dr. Yunus KARATAŞ is a full-time Professor at the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Ahi Evran University. His academic journey includes progression from Research Assistant (1999-2008) to Professor (2017-present). He holds a PhD from Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster (Germany), an MS from Middle East Technical University (Chemistry), and a BA from the same institution (Mathematics and Science Education). His research focuses on Physical Chemistry , Polymer Science , and Energy , with specialized interests in polymer electrolytes for lithium-ion batteries, photocatalytic degradation of pollutants, fuel cell membranes, and flame-retardant polymer additives. Recent investigations emphasize photocatalytic nanomaterials for environmental remediation and advanced energy storage solutions. Publication analysis reveals dominant themes in photocatalytic materials development (especially TiO₂/ZnO/polyaniline composites), polymer electrolytes, and sustainable material synthesis. His work consistently integrates experimental characterization with computational insights across 150+ publications. Administratively, he serves as Department Chair (2017-present) and previously directed the Central Research and Application Laboratory (2015-2019). He has supervised 10+ graduate students and secured 35 research grants, predominantly focused on energy materials and environmental catalysis. Current projects include photocatalytic degradation of textile dyes and development of nanocomposite electrolytes.
