Donatas Bagurskas serves as Associate Professor of Double Bass at the Department of String Instruments, Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre (LMTA), where he is celebrated as "The Double Bass Poet" for his exceptional artistry and ambassadorship of the instrument internationally. Education: Kaunas Juozas Naujalis Music Gymnasium Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre His performance expertise spans Baroque to contemporary repertoire, featuring Lithuanian premieres of major double bass works including Nino Rota's Divertimento Concertante , Gavin Bryars' Farewell to St. Petersburg , and Armando Trovajoli's Sconcerto . He actively bridges classical and jazz traditions through collaborations with artists like Evelina Sašenko and Dmitrijs Golovanovs. Awards: GRAMMY Award nomination (2014) for Dobrinka Tabakova's album 'String Paths' Bagurskas conducts international masterclasses and serves on competition juries while maintaining active performance roles as concertmaster of the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, collaborator with Čiurlionis/Chordos/Mettis String Quartets, founding member of ensemble '4 Tango', and creator of Lithuania's first double bass orchestra.
