James VanDemark is a Professor of Double Bass at the Eastman School of Music within the University of Rochester. A celebrated virtuoso, he has performed as a soloist with major orchestras such as the New York Philharmonic and San Francisco Symphony, earning acclaim for his musical intelligence and technical mastery. VanDemark's career spans solo performances, chamber music collaborations, and commissions of works by Pulitzer Prize-winning composers, while also serving as an educator whose students hold positions in prestigious orchestras globally.
