Prasad Jallepalli, MD, PhD, is a Professor at Weill Cornell Medicine and a Member of the Molecular Biology Program. He leads a research laboratory focused on understanding how human cells accurately duplicate and transmit chromosomes during cell division. His work integrates genome engineering, chemical genetics, and high-resolution microscopy to explore cell cycle regulation, chromosome segregation, and genome stability. Key areas include: Cell cycle checkpoints and mitotic regulation DNA replication and repair Sister chromatid cohesion and cohesin biology Genome editing and chemical genetics in human cells Nuclear pore function in mitotic control His lab has pioneered the use of adeno-associated virus (AAV)-mediated gene targeting and analog-sensitive kinase systems to dissect the roles of key mitotic regulators such as Plk1 and Mps1. These tools have enabled precise temporal control of kinase activity and discovery of novel substrates and pathways.
