معرفی
Masamitsu Sato is a Professor at the Department of Life Science and Medical Bioscience, Faculty of Science and Engineering, Waseda University. His research focuses on the molecular mechanisms of microtubule formation, gene expression during the cell cycle, and chromosome segregation in fission yeast (Schizosaccharomyces pombe). He also investigates microtubule regulation in mammalian systems, such as tracheal cilia and renal tubules.
- Education:
- Ph.D. in Biophysics and Biochemistry, Graduate School of Science, University of Tokyo (2001)
- Master’s and Bachelor’s in Biophysics and Biochemistry, University of Tokyo
His research interests span cell polarity, meiosis/mitosis differentiation, non-coding RNA, and cytoskeleton dynamics. Recent work includes microtubule catastrophe mechanisms, artificial chromosome segregation devices, and single-cell RNA-seq for dormancy breaking.
His scientific awards include the Waseda Research Award (2018), Yeast Consortium Fellow (2020, 2022), and the Young Scientists' Prize (2012). He has contributed to CRISPR/Cas9 optimization and fission yeast plasmid systems.
