She holds a PhD in biological oceanography from UBC and an MSc from James Cook University. Her research bridges human and natural systems, focusing on marine ecology, invasive species transport, ecological risk assessment, and ecosystem-based management strategies for marine environments. Her recent publications emphasize cumulative impact mapping, marine debris ecology, climate change effects on coastal systems, and sustainable management of anthropogenic pressures in Pacific ecosystems. She leads interdisciplinary projects investigating tsunami debris impacts, commercial shipping effects, and plastic pollution's role in species dispersal across ocean basins.
