Jens Weibezahn is an Assistant Professor at Copenhagen Business School (CBS), affiliated with the Copenhagen School of Energy Infrastructure (CSEI). He also serves as a Guest Researcher at Technische Universität Berlin's Workgroup for Infrastructure Policy (WIP) and holds the title of Marie Skłodowska-Curie Alumnus. His research focuses on energy system flexibility, sector integration, decentralization, and market design, utilizing open-source modeling and financial analysis. He earned a Ph.D. in economics from TU Berlin, with prior studies in industrial engineering and management at TU Berlin and the University of California, Berkeley. Key research areas include energy finance, nuclear power financing, hydrogen infrastructure, and localized energy transformation. Weibezahn's work addresses critical challenges such as nuclear energy policy, hydrogen infrastructure optimization, and the role of energy communities. His recent publications highlight topics like nuclear plant financing and the paradoxical reliance on nuclear expansion in energy scenarios. He actively contributes to projects like the Nordic Network on Energy System Integration and the Rally to the Valley initiative for hydrogen value chains. Education: Ph.D. in Economics, TU Berlin M.Sc./B.Sc. Industrial Engineering & Management (TU Berlin and UC Berkeley) His teaching includes courses on Operations Research and Energy System Economics. He advises on energy infrastructure planning and has led impactful studies on integrated network designs and sufficiency measures for renewable systems.
