Dr. Satish Melwani is a Research Fellow at Monash University’s Department of General Practice within the SPHERE NHMRC Centre of Research Excellence. He holds a PhD from the University of Tasmania (2024), MPH from Deakin University (2019), and a Bachelors in Dental Surgery from India (2016). His work focuses on health literacy, maternal and child health, noncommunicable disease prevention, and digital health systems. Key research interests include codesigning health literacy solutions with marginalized populations to reduce health inequities, particularly among pregnant women and mothers. He has collaborated with the World Health Organization and contributed to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to health and education. Recent research explores factors influencing healthcare access, including a 2025 study on medication abortion practices among nurses and a 2024 cluster analysis of health literacy profiles in Tasmanian mothers. Outputs emphasize actionable policy recommendations to strengthen health systems. He accepts PhD students and has published 12 peer-reviewed articles between 2017–2025, with 6 major contributions in health literacy, reproductive health, and chronic disease management. His work addresses social determinants of health and digital health innovation.
