Dr. Selin Akyüz is an Associate Professor at the Department of Political Science and International Relations of TED University's Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences. She has been actively teaching since at least 2019, offering courses such as Contemporary Turkish Politics, Politics of Masculinities, and Ethnic Problems and Nationalism. Her academic work focuses on gender studies, political masculinities, forced migration, and the intersection of gender with political economy and social reproduction.
Her research critically examines topics like women's cooperatives in Turkey, gender-based violence among refugees, and the impact of pandemic policies on marginalized groups. She has authored/co-authored over 30 publications in peer-reviewed journals (SSCI/AHCI-indexed), including works in Gender, Work & Organization, Journal of Refugee Studies, and Women's Studies International Forum.
Dr. Akyüz has contributed to funded research projects such as Exploring Hegemonic Masculinity Hierarchy and Social Entrepreneurship in Turkey. Her books and chapters address themes like Political Masculinities in Turkish Cinema and Women's Empowerment Models. She serves on editorial boards for journals like Frontiers and Masculinities: A Journal of Culture and Society.
