Dr Kayode Akintola is a Lecturer in Corporate Insolvency Law at the School of Law, University of Sheffield , where he joined in 2022. He previously held a Lecturer position in International Commercial Law at Lancaster University Law School . As Deputy Director of the Sheffield Institute of Corporate and Commercial Law (SICCL) , he contributes to research and education in corporate law areas. Education: PhD, University of Nottingham LLM in Corporate Law, University College London Dr Akintola's research focuses on Corporate Insolvency Law , Corporate Restructuring , Corporate Finance Mechanisms , and Secured Transactions Regimes . His work examines how legal frameworks align with modern corporate financing and insolvency needs, including the role of Corporate Governance and International Commercial Arbitration in restructuring. His recent publications highlight trends in UK corporate insolvency reforms, creditor prioritization in bankruptcy, and comparative studies on bank insolvency frameworks in developing economies. These works emphasize legal harmonization , stakeholder equity , and policy adaptations for modern financial systems. Scientific Awards: Winner, Insolvency Lawyers’ Association Academic Forum Competition Dr Akintola supervises postgraduate research in corporate and commercial law and participates in the UK Secured Transactions Law Reform Project . He also served as a Research Consultant for the UK Insolvency Service , contributing to legislative reforms like the Corporate Insolvency and Governance Act 2020 .
