Camille Tessitore King is a Professor and Chair of Psychology at Stetson University. She earned her BA, MA, and PhD in Psychology from the University of Virginia, followed by post-doctoral research at the University of Michigan. After a career break, she resumed academic work in 1996, collaborating with Dr. Alan Spector on NIH-funded research. Her research specializes in the functional neuroanatomy of the gustatory system, investigating taste nerve regeneration, cortical organization, and oromotor behaviors in rodents. Key areas include: Biological mechanisms of taste perception Neural plasticity following nerve damage Rodent models of gustatory processing fMRI and immunoreactivity mapping Her publications consistently explore rodent gustatory neurobiology, with recurring themes of nerve regeneration, quinine response mechanisms, and cortical-behavioral relationships across 15+ years of research. Awards and Honors: Hand Award for Excellence in Research (2004) Psi Chi Faculty Advisor Research Grant (for undergraduate mentorship) McEniry Award for Excellence in Teaching (2011) She maintains active NIH collaborations and undergraduate research initiatives, emphasizing experiential learning in neuroscience.
