Krista Johansen, M.D., is an Assistant Professor of Medical Education at the School of Medicine, Tufts University . She holds joint appointments in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and Immunology. Her academic career spans roles in medical curriculum design, clinical anatomy instruction, and health professions education innovation. Dr. Johansen earned a Bachelor of Arts from Wesleyan University (1995) and a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Massachusetts (2003) . She completed a Surgery Internship at Tufts-New England Medical Center (2003-2004) and a Pathology Residency at University of Massachusetts Medical School (2004-2007). Her research focuses on technology-enhanced medical education , including radiological anatomy workshops, dissection-based learning strategies, and integrating clinical cases into basic science instruction. She emphasizes social constructivist methodologies and self-directed learning frameworks , advocating for curricula responsive to underserved communities.
